Q. What is Emerge Broward?

A. Emerge Broward is a young professionals organization that promotes leadership and personal development through networking, community involvement, and educational opportunities. The organization offers monthly events that are open to all members. To join as a member, young professionals can visit www.emergebroward.org.

Q. What is the mission of Emerge Broward?

A. The mission of Emerge Broward is to identify the emerging leaders and young professionals of Broward County, connect them with each other and current leaders in the community, develop their ability to serve as community trustees, and engage them within the community.

Q. What is a “young professional”?

A. Young professionals are considered to be all working (or soon to be working) people between the ages of 21-35.

Q. What type of job do I have to have to be included?

A. All professionals are welcome. Our members come from all over the Greater Fort Lauderdale area and their professions range from artists to entrepreneurs, marketers to teachers, accountants, attorneys, graduate students, doctors, etc.

Q. Is this just another dating or social club?

A. No, it is not. Emerge Broward does offer networking opportunities that are more social in nature, but that is not its focus. Emerge Broward is a group that is dedicated to identifying emerging leaders, connecting and engaging them throughout the community, and promoting leadership and personal development among young professionals.

Q. How does the program work?

A. Your dues of $25 covers one year of membership and you can join at anytime. Events are ongoing throughout the year and activities include various networking socials, educational seminars, done-in-a-day community service projects, and much more! Most of the events are “pay as you go” and YOU select the events you want to attend. Participants have an active role in determining the activities that are offered.

Q. How do I become a member?

A. To join Emerge Broward, you need to pay an annual due of $25 and fill out the application, which can be found online at www.emergebroward.org under the “Join Now!” tab.

Q. What are some of the benefits of joining Emerge Broward?

A. Joining Emerge Broward will provide you with the following:

- Numerous networking opportunities with other emerging leaders in Broward County

- Exposure to well-known and established leaders in the community

- Connection with service-oriented community organizations

- Engagement in meaningful community service opportunities

- Development of the tools needed to serve as an effective board member and become involved with a local organization in a leadership capacity.

Q. Can I attend a meeting before deciding if I want to join?

A. Yes, you are welcome to attend a meeting or selected event before becoming a member. Please contact our Programs Coordinator at eb@leadershipbroward.org to arrange a visit.

Q. How much time will I have to commit to the organization?

A. The time you commit will vary on how much you want to be involved. You can spend as little or as much time; however, the more time you put into Emerge Broward the more you will get out of it!

A. Yes, Emerge Broward is the young professionals organization affiliated with Leadership Broward Foundation.

A. No, Emerge Broward is not affiliated with any other organizations besides Leadership Broward and does not endorse any religious or political views.

Q. What do the committees do?

A. There are four committees of Emerge Broward that exist to support the organization's mission by planning diverse programs and activities for the Emerge Broward membership.  Any Emerge Broward member can join a committee!  All meetings take place from 6:00-7:30 p.m.  Please see the calendar of events online for more information, such as meeting locations.

Q. How do I join a committee?

A. To join a committee, please visit www.emergebroward.org and use the “Opt-In” box on your user profile. You may also contact any of the co-chairs and/or attend an upcoming meeting. Any Emerge Broward member can join a committee and all committee meetings are open to all members.

A. Yes, we encourage you to join as many of the committees that meet your interests.

Q. Who decides where events take place (where and when)?

A. Ultimately, the members decide. The committees handle the planning and execution of all events, but they receive most of their leads from the members.
